The 2020 high school golf season is underway
for high school teams across the Commonwealth including the Allen
County-Scottsville Patriots. Friday, sophomore Rafe Blankenship carded a two-over-par
74 to finish seventh overall and pace the Patriot golfers at the Monroe County
Falcon Invitational at the Hidden Hills Country Club in Tompkinsville.
Blankenship shot a 38 on the front nine before scoring a 38 on the back nine. His round included birdies on the third and fifth holes, 14 pars, and a pair of double bogeys. Blankenship’s 74 was three shots off the pace set by five golfers who shared individual honors and two shots off a sixth place round of 72.
AC-S senior Peyton Cline fired an 80 on the
day. Eihth-grader Eli Stamper notched an 85 with senior Tyler Ford shooting a
round of 90. Junior Joshia Sikes finished with a 94.
The Patriots placed sixth as a team (329).
Greenwood won the invitational with a team score of 289 followed by Bowling
Green (301), South Warren (311), Monroe County (314), and Glasgow (316). The
tournament included 63 golfers representing 10 south-central Kentucky schools.
The Patriot golf team returns to action
Monday at the Greenwood Gator Invitational at the Bowling Green Country Club.
