The Allen County-Scottsville High School
Patriot Band and Guard placed fourth Saturday in their first appearance in the
Mid-States Band Association (MSBA) Class AA Championships in Miamisburg Ohio.
The championships included 30 schools representing Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
After placing fourth in the preliminary
round to qualify for the finals, the Patriot Band and Guard earned a score of
75.70 Saturday evening in the season finale. Taylor County (KY) took top honors
with a score of 85.90. Washington County (KY) was second with a score of 79.60
followed by Greenon (OH) with a 76.20.
Taylor County’s color guard unit was judged as first overall with the AC-S color guard placing second in the championship.
The AC-S result is believed to be the
highest finish in AC-S band history in a season-ending championship event.
Additional Kentucky schools taking part in the MSBA event included Corbin, Fort
Thomas Highlands, Elizabethtown, North Laurel, West Jessamine, Martha Layne
Collins, Ballard, Conner, Nelson County, and Rowen County.
The Patriot Band and Guard included 74 members and was under the field command of Nathanial Stinson. This year’s show was entitled, “It’s All in Your Head.” The AC-SH band is directed by J. Shawn Huff.
