ACS Volleyball Releases Schedule

   The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot volleyball team will be road warriors for the 2019 regular season. AC-S’s current schedule includes five home and six away matches as well as two highly-competitive tournaments.

   AC-S, coming off a 19-8 season, opens their 19th season of volleyball on Monday, August 19 with a road match at Edmonson County. The Lady Patriots follow with tournament action on August 23-24 in Owensboro in the Apollo Summer Slam. The two-day evet features three teams (Taylor County, Central Hardin, and Apollo) who posted 30-plus wins last years as well as four teams with 20 or more victories (Fredrick Douglass, Madisonville-North Hopkins, North Bullitt, and Whitesville Trinity). 

   The Lady Patriots’ five home matches include District 15 opponents Barren County, Glasgow, and Monroe County along with Edmonson County and Franklin-Simpson. The home opener is slated for Thursday, September 5 against Barren County. AC-S also hosts Edmonson County on September 9, Franklin-Simpson on September 16, Monroe County on October 3, and Glasgow on October 14. 

   Road matches include trips to Warren East (August 29), Glasgow (September 10), Monroe County (September 19), Barren County (September 24), Metcalfe County (September 30), and Franklin-Simpson (October 15). 

   The Lady Patriots will also participate in the Taylor County Smack-Down Tournament on September 13-14. Teams in the field include Apollo, Fredrick Douglass, North Bullitt, Taylor County, Thomas Nelson, and West Jessamine. 

   AC-S---the reigning District 15 champions---will defend their title during the District tournament scheduled for the week of October 21 at Patriot Gym. Region 4 tournament action will be the following week.

   The Lady Patriots enter the season with a 250-250 record over the previous 17 seasons. The team is under the direction of second-year coach Shelby Keegan. AC-S is seeking to reach the Region 4 tournament for an eighth consecutive season and record their fourth consecutive winning season. The program’s best finish in regional play was a semifinal run in 2008.
