Communication to Families in December 2021
Dear Parent and Guardians of Allen County Schools:As we close out 2021, I wanted to share some important information and opportunities to be part of the future of Allen County Schools. First, In January 2020, the Allen County School District launched Dare to Dream, a Visioning & Strategic Planning Initiative. Shortly after beginning this process, the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted our progress. We were able to relaunch the visioning process in late 2020 and recently completed drafting new vision and mission statements, a set of core values, the Profile of a Patriot, and a revised instructional model. You can review the vision documents here.Hearing from stakeholders has been a very important part of our visioning process. We have hosted Focus Group meetings, viewing and reflection sessions on the documentary film Most Likely to Succeed, and visioning/reflection sessions with certified staff. As we near the end of this phase of work, we would like to have your feedback on the vision documents. After reviewing the package, you can provide feedback through this Feedback Form. If you would like to learn more about Dare to Dream, the Visioning & Strategic Planning Initiative, we will host Patriot Family Forum on January 10, 2022, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Allen County-Scottsville High School. We will also offer a Zoom link for anyone interested in participating virtually (link will be sent to registered participants). If you are interested in attending, we ask that you complete this Registration Form. The second opportunity I wanted to share is related to a couple of study groups we are launching in January of 2022. The study groups will be composed of 10-15 stakeholders each and charged with looking at a specific area - Bullying Prevention or Drug & Alcohol Prevention. These groups will review best practice programs, strategies, and policies/procedures related to the specific topic, take stock of what we currently have in place, and provide a list of recommended actions for the district to consider. The target date to have the recommendations drafted will be April 15, 2021, so that we have time to make any necessary modifications to the District Code of Conduct prior to the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. If you are interested in participating in one of these study groups, please complete this Study Group Interest Form. As always, we appreciate your continued support of our school district. We hope you have a Happy New Year!
