Cross Country

The Allen County-Scottsville cross country team will run in the Class 2A, Region 2 meet this weekend in Bardstown. The regional championship meet potentially caps a season of growing for a small and primary inexperienced team.

AC-S’s season has involved several meets at locations such as Elizabethtown, Madisonville, Bowling Green, and Russellville. The team competed on Thursday, October 16 at the SKY Conference Cross Country meet at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green. Senior Tyler Marsh led the way for the Patriots with a strong 11th place finish. Marsh covered the 5K course in a time of 17:59.04.

Eighth grade runner Ashton Cox finished the race with a time of 21:59.51. Senior Rico Gass was a spot behind Cox with a time of 22:11.53. Eighth grader Carter Poland had a time of 23:31.17 with classmate Joshua Perry recording a time of 23:56.46. Seventh grader Ty Blankenship had a time of 24:12.42.

On the girls side, only one Lady Patriot completed in the 5K. Freshman Bridgette Miller had a time of 30:27.97.

The SKY conference meet was much smaller than the previous event including an AC-S runner. On Saturday, October 4, Marsh ran in the Louisville XC Classic. Marsh’s time was 18:07.80 which earned him a 94th place finish in the 230-runner field featuring top runners from all classes across the Commonwealth.

Attention turns to the Class 2A, Region 2 meet on October 25 at Thomas Nelson High School in Bardstown. The meet starts at 11:30 (CDT) for the Patriot runners. The ladies race starts at 12:15 (CDT) for the girls.
