The Allen County-Scottsville High School marching band earned second place in Class 4A and posted the second-highest overall score at the Franklin-Simpson Marching Invitational on Saturday, September 12, at Shadetree Stadium in Franklin.

AC-S finished with a total score of 63.600, trailing only Calloway County’s 65.750 among 15 competing bands across five classes. Warren East, competing in Class 2A, recorded the third-highest overall total at 63.350.  In the four-band Class 4A field, Logan County placed third with 60.050, followed by Barren County with 56.900.

AC-S’s percussion section led Class 4A with a score of 126.00. The band also ranked first in the class’s visual ensemble subcategory, earning 6.90, and finished second in color guard with 126.00.

The Patriots’ overall total included 25.20 in music performance, 13.40 in visual performance and 25.00 in general effect. AC-S received no field and timing penalties.

The band will return to competition Saturday, September 19, at the Lincoln Invitational at LaRue County High School in Hodgenville. AC-S is scheduled to perform at 1:30 p.m. CDT.

The nine-band competitive field includes Breckinridge County, Adair County and Russell County in Class 3A; Meade County, Ohio County, AC-S and Anderson County in Class 4A; and Central Hardin and North Hardin in Class 5A.

Opening ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m., with preliminary awards scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The finals begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by final awards at 8:45 p.m., according to the posted schedule.
