Make plans today to be a part of the 2026 Allen County-Scottsville Homecoming Parade---a revised tradition that connects school spirit with the community.
The AC-S Quarterback Club invites athletic teams from across the school district, school clubs, Homecoming candidates, businesses, industries, churches and community organizations to be a part of the Homecoming Parade scheduled to roll off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1.
Quarterback Club event organizer Anna Drummond encourages participation from every sport in the school system to ride in the parade in joint celebration with Patriot football.
“As a parent of a student who plays three sports, I want all athletes to feel they have a place in the celebration,” Drummond stressed. “We want all the athletes, all the student-athletes, to feel like they have this time to shine.”
While all student-athletes are encouraged to join in, the parade’s special participants will be the Patriot Football team. The parade highlights Homecoming week and sets the stage for the traditional homecoming game on Friday night, October 2. This year, AC-S hosts District rival Warren East---a game expected to carry huge playoff implications.
The Homecoming parade returned four years ago, reviving a tradition from the early years of Patriot football. Back in the day, school spirit extended into the local community with events such as the parade on the night before Homecoming. The return of the parade is geared to renew that spirit. Hence, local businesses, industries, civic organizations, and citizens are highly encouraged to prepare a float or secure a truck or trailer and join in for the fun. Participation not only revives a past memory-maker but also helps grow a new sports tradition that, hopefully, will last for decades.
“I hope that it does,” Drummond said. “I hope that it continues.”
The parade begins near East Main and South Fifth streets in Scottsville, travels west through the square and follows South Court Street to the Bowling Green Road. The route moves along Veterans Memorial Blvd, through the U.S. 231/U.S. 31E intersection, and turns left at Burnley Road to finish at Patriot Stadium. City and County law enforcement and local first responders will lead the way and help secure the parade route. The Allen County Little League football program will be the grand marshals.
Despite its newness, recent years have witnessed the route lined with supporters---many of whom follow the parade to the school where a community pep rally is held. Plans call for the Patriot Marching Band to perform its full festival show---giving community members an opportunity to witness the 8-minute performance in its entirety. Performances by the cheerleading and dance teams will be a part of the rally as well. Special remarks are expected from community and school leaders as well as AC-S football coach Brad Hood. Games will be held, and food trucks are also slated to be on hand. Dugas Park Director Shannon Weaver will emcee the event.
The parade entry fee is $25, payable by cash or check to the ACS Quarterback Club. Entry forms and fees are due September 26. They may be mailed to ACS QBC, P.O. Box 611, Scottsville, KY 42164, or dropped off at the Allen County Board of Education (attention Stephanie Hood), or the AC-S High School front office (attention Allison Edwards).
Lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. with the lineup location announced before parade day. Entrants must be in line and aboard their float or vehicle by 5:00 p.m. for judging purposes. All participants must ride—walkers are not permitted—and drivers must have valid driver’s licenses. Riders must remain with their entries until they reach the high school parking lot.
