Allen County-Scottsville High School senior Lily Cook has been recognized for her exceptional academic promise by being named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Cook joins approximately 34,000 Commended Students nationwide honored for their performance on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students out of all nationwide entrants in the 2027 competition. Although she will not continue in the 2027 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, this recognition underscores her distinction among the top high school scholars across the country.

"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," noted a NMSC (National Merit Scholarship Corporation) leader. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."

A Letter of Recognition from Allen County-Scottsville High School and the NMSC, which conducts the program, was presented to Cook this week in recognition of her outstanding scholastic talent.

Cook is the daughter of Shelley and Shane Cook.
