Hello Patriot Academy Families!
As you get ready to do back-to-school shopping please keep in mind that hoodies will not be acceptable wear at Patriot Academy this coming year for any in-person student. Students in Freedom and Rise will not be allowed to wear them, nor will Liberty students who come in for tutoring or a visit to the STEM
Hub. It has always been a part of our dress code, but due to some behavior issues we will enforce it this year. Please help your students choose wisely in purchases and dressing each morning.
In addition, we will also be enforcing the cell phone policy written in the Kentucky state law. Students in the Freedom Program will not have their phones during instructional time and will only be allowed to have them at teacher-specified breaks in the day. Rise Program students will not have them at all per existing protocols. Liberty students who come in for tutoring or STEM Hub are to have them put away, silenced or turned off during instructional tutoring or STEM Hub time.
Thank you for your support in these two important issues and we look forward to another wonderful year of learning with all of our students!!!
Open House Reminder: August 6th from 3-5 PM!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rhetta Roy, Ed.S.

The Liberty K-5 kids came to the STEM
Hub today for some engaging activity! They learned about surface tension and how different 2D shapes make the same shape bubble. Kids made their own bubble wands after making the bubble concoction from scratch. They had a blast blowing bubbles all around! The front lawn at PA looked like a magical place while they played with their creations!

The Freedom students had another round of learning to cook Friday in the ACSHS kitchen! They learned to make "Eggs in a Basket" which is a healthy and hearty breakfast to get the day started right! And as every chef knows, clean up is always part of the process! Looks so yummy kids!! 👩🏼🍳🧑🏻🍳

I am publishing our last days of school calendar and announcement post a bit earlier than usual so everyone can prepare accordingly for the fast-approaching end-of-the-year! We are now down to only 20 school days left and there is much to do! WOW!!!
Please contact your teacher with any questions and please know that KSA State Testing is not optional and your student is expected to be on time and in attendance on their assigned day. Mrs. Gravette has some students scheduled at specific times and those only will meet at her times and not the posted whole group testing sessions.
Have a wonderful weekend and please stay close in touch with your teachers!!

The Reality Store came to JEBMS today! The 8th grade students came in and had a set salary and visited different stations to be charged for their monthly bills such as electric, water, child care, medical expenses, and other possible bills they may accrue throughout the month. The PA Freedom students were invited to run the SOS booth. This is where the 8th graders would come when they ran out of money to get advice on how to gain more income or what they could do differently to better manage their money. It was a fun day to mentor younger students!

Patriot Academy middle and high school students visited the ACSHS greenhouse to see the results of the hard work of the high school students! There were so many beautiful plants to choose from as the teachers and students made their purchases!

Awesome day at PA!!! The kids enjoyed a STEM Chemistry Lab for Liberty and Freedom students with special guest speaker, Dustin Jenkins, PhD., analytical chemist from Alpha Resources in Stevensville, Michigan. He is also Mrs. Jenkins' brother!! Dr. Jenkins taught students about acids and bases and how they are found in everyday life. PA teachers led students in a lab where they used litmus paper and a red cabbage juice indicator to determine if everyday household chemicals are acids or bases. They all had a great time and learned very practical information! Thank you for your time today Dr. Jenkins!!!

Happy Birthday Mr. Shannon Newton! You are an amazing part of the PA Family! The Freedom kids surprised him with cupcakes and a little surprise party! And the building staff hid tons of balloons in his custodial closet this morning when he opened it!

SKYCTC hosted a Pathfinder Preview Night. Each program was available for potential students to learn about the program and ask any questions they might have. Admission and advising was open to schedule appointments to register for classes. Incoming students were able to tour the facility and sign up for raffle prizes. Two of our Patriot Academy students enjoyed learning about preparing for their future last night!

Good afternoon Patriot Academy Families!
State Testing (Kentucky Summative Assessment; KSA) is just around the corner for grades 3-11 in Kentucky! As promised, I wanted to share our schedule as early as possible so that everyone can make plans and save dates for when students must be present in person at Patriot Academy for these mandatory state tests. Only grades 3-8 and 10-11 test, and some grades (5, 8 and 11) must spread out their assessments over two days to accommodate them all. We ask every student to bring their assigned Chromebook fully charged as well as their charger cord in case of need for the testing days. Please have your student at Patriot Academy by 7:30 AM on their day of testing so that they can have breakfast, if needed, and we can check everyone in and begin testing promptly. Each day will vary with end times, so teachers will communicate with drop-offs what time to pick up your students. If they will be with us through lunch they will be offered a school lunch. Please ensure that your student is well-rested, eats a good breakfast (with you or us!) and is ready to do their best on these state assessments!
**No Phones, watches, earbuds, headphones, or ANY electronic device will be allowed in the testing room at all per state requirements. We will collect them all upon arrival and lock them up for the duration of the test. Please prepare your student for this prior to arrival. We are not permitted make any exceptions at all.
