Seniors at Allen County-Scottsville High
School will have the opportunity to find a job this Friday---without leaving
the high school.
The Allen County-Scottsville High School
guidance department in partnership with KenovaWorks (South Central Workforce
Development Board) will be hosting a Hiring Fair on Friday,
May 18, from noon until 2:30 in the high school lobby. Human Resource
representatives from approximately 20 local and area businesses and industries
will be on site to recruit new members for their workforce. Students can
explore employment opportunities, complete applications, and/or submit resumes.
Officials offer several suggestions to
prepare for the Hiring Fair. Prior to the fair, students are advised to
prepare, tweak, and polish their resumes. This process
should include a check for spelling errors, capitalization errors, and other
easily fixable grammatical errors. Resumes should also be up to date and
accurate.
“The
fair is a huge opportunity for them,” noted a representative with KenovaWorks.
“They need to have their best work ready to present to these employers.
Students should also have an appropriate number of copies of their
resume on hand for the job fair. This way, they can provide a copy of their
resume to every business that they may have an interest in working with or
every single business if they wish to maximize their options.”
In some cases, interviews will occur on the
spot with the potential for an employment offer to be extended during the
event.
