Winter Guards Place Second

   The Axis Winter Guards representing Allen County-Scottsville High School placed second at both the varsity and JV levels at last Saturday’s Southeastern Color Guard Circuit (SCGC) competition at Franklin High School in Franklin Tennessee.

In the varsity competition, Axis---competing for just the second time in a new higher-level division of the SCGC competition---earned a score of 66.06 to capture second place honors in the field of five guards from Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. White House High School Winter Guard won the division with a score of 69.05.

Members of Axis varsity include Andy Apple, Courtney Meadows, Katie Whelchel, Andrea Gagen, Tayte Hawkins, Rachel Marsh, Gabby Veron, Shayla Anderson, Johnathan Carter, Allie Sims, Maelie Stovall, Alex Ward, Katie Davis, Robin Gagen, Kaylee Langman, Shelby Pearson, Bailey Pardue, Taylor Beth Huff and Abigail Stamps.

In the Junior Varsity (JV) competition in their first week after a promotion in division, Axis placed second in the 13-guard field with schools from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. The JV guard scored 67.94. Fort Payne (AL) High School won the division with a score of 71.41.

Junior varsity guard members include Sno Browning, Rhiley Cross, Danesha Martin, Savannah Shivers, Abigail Gann, Cara Gass, Olivia Harwood, Emma Robison, Shea Robison, Taylor Rookstool, Jorja Tuttle, Juliya Villarreal, Reagan Fletcher, Lanie Hawkins, Alec Johnson, Abby Lemert, Katie Calvert, Kerlandy Carver, Emily Coulter, and Claire Robison.

Axis is scheduled to return to competition on Saturday, March 11 at Beech High School in Hendersonville (TN). The final regular seasonal competition will be March 25 at Siegal High School in Murfreesboro (TN).
