Patriots Down Scotties

 

   The Allen County-Scottsville Patriots improved to 1-1 in District 15 play with an 80-70 win Tuesday night over the Glasgow Scotties.

  Junior forward Marcus Carter led the way for the Patriots. Carter scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to help AC-S to the win. Carter connected on eight-of-10 shots from the floor and went three-of-four from the foul line. In addition, Carter blocked two shots and handed out two assists.

    Sophomore guards Brett Rippy and Cayden Ross also contributed in the win. Rippy scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out three assists. Ross scored a career-high 12 points, handed out three assists, and recorded four steals. Overall, nine Patriots scored in the game.

  AC-S used a 27-11 second period to build a 48-28 lead at halftime. Glasgow (2-9, 0-3) outscored AC-S, 42-32, in the final 16 minutes but the Patriots were able to prevail and record their fourth win of the year.

    The Patriots finished the night shooting 60.4% from the floor, connecting on 29 of 48 field goals in the game. Glasgow went 24-63 from the floor (38.1%). At the line, AC-S sank 20 of 31 free throws compared to Glasgow’s 18 of 23. The Patriots dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Scotties 44-25.

    AC-S (4-8, 1-1) returns to District 15 play Friday night at Monroe County (8-6, 1-1) as part of a girl-boy doubleheader. Tip time will be approximately 7:30 at Monroe County High School in Tompkinsville. AC-S will return home Saturday for a JV/V games with Adair County (14-1). The JV game will tip at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
