Swim Strong at Russell County

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School Lady Patriot and Patriot swim team enjoyed a long day in the water at the Russell County Laker Fall Preview Event Saturday. The unique event featured only 50-yard sprint events and relays, thus allowing swimmers to compete in multiple events, individually and as a team.   

   For Lady Patriot swimmers, the day belonged to Sarah Hartman. The eighth-grader set personal best times in multiple individual events. Hartman placed 14th in the 50-yard freestyle in the time of 29.26 in a 140-swimmer field. Hartman was eighth in the 50y backstroke (32.67) in a field of 109. In addition, Hartman was 13th from among 78 swimmers in the 50y breaststroke (39.67), and 10th in the 50y butterfly (31.36) in a field of 72 swimmers.

   Teammate Rachel Foster recorded a time of 29.82 to place 25th in the 50y freestyle. Hayden Petty recording a time of 34.20 and Katherine Foster had a time of 40.20 in the event. In the 50y backstroke, Petty had a time of 46.71 with Katherine Foster positing a time of 47.49. In the 50y breaststroke, Rachel Foster posted a time of 42.53 for 25th in the field with Petty swimming the event in 46.91 and Katherine Foster having a time of 50.87. In the 50y butterfly, Rachel Foster was 35th with a time of 36.65, Petty posted the time of 43.82 and Katherine Foster notched a time of 53.10.
  
   In the relay events, the Lady Patriots placed 17th in the 200y free relay (2:18.00), 12th in the 200y breaststroke (3:07.61), and ninth in the 200y butterfly (2:50.25).
   
   The Patriot swim team placed sixth in a 10-team field followed strong efforts by the AC-S swimmers. In the 50y freestyle, Tad Taylor posted a time of 26.17 to place 25th in a field of 136. Teammate Chance Hill was 27th in the time of 26.34. Wade Weisbrodt was 42nd in the time of 27.29. Nate Harper (30.26), Lake Doss (31.44), John Bomar (31.59), and Zach Ainsley (37.350 also took part in the event.
   
   In the 50y backstroke, Hill placed 11th in the 100-swimmer field after posting a time of 30.35. Weisbrodt was 32nd (33.82) and Taylor was 47th (36.22). Harper had a time of 39.11, Doss notched the time of 39.18, Bomar posted a time of 40.76, and Ainsley finished in 48.83.
   
   Taylor led the Patriot swimmers in the 50y breaststroke posting a time of 37.23 to finish 36th in a 100-swimmer field. Weisbrodt was 43rd in the time of 37.99, followed closely by Hill (38.20) and Doss (38.95). Harper had a time of 41.03 with Ansley recording a time of 49.45.
   
   In the 50y butterfly, Hill placed 18th in the field of 79 after recording a time of 29.10. Weisbrodt was 26th in the time of 30 seconds. Taylor had a time of 32.46 while Doss posting a 36.35 time.
  
   The Patriot swimmers also participated in relay events. In the 200y freestyle, Weisbrodt, Hill, Taylor, and Hill posted a time of 1:51.50 to help AC-S to an 11th place. Harper joined Taylor, Weisbrodt, and Hill in the 200y backstroke relay, helping the Patriots to a ninth-place finish in the time of 2:17.44. In the 200y breaststroke relay, Bomar, Weisbrodt, Taylor, and Hill posted a time of 2:37.29 to give AC-S a seventh place. In the 200y butterfly relay, ACS was eight as Weisbrodt, Doss, Taylor, and Hill had a time of 2:08.93.
