Winter Guards Place First

  The Axis Winter Guards representing Allen County-Scottsville High School placed first at both the varsity and JV levels at last Saturday’s Southeastern Color Guard Circuit (SCGC) competition at Beech High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

In the varsity competition, Axis earned a score of 69.19 to capture top honors in the field of five guards from Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Summit High School from Tennessee placed second with a score of 68.90.

Members of Axis varsity include Andy Apple, Courtney Meadows, Katie Whelchel, Andrea Gagen, Tayte Hawkins, Rachel Marsh, Gabby Veron, Shayla Anderson, Johnathan Carter, Allie Sims, Maelie Stovall, Alex Ward, Katie Davis, Robin Gagen, Kaylee Langman, Shelby Pearson, Bailey Pardue, Taylor Beth Huff and Abigail Stamps.

In the Junior Varsity (JV) competition, Axis placed first in the seven guard field. The JV guard scored 72.35, sliding by Murray High School’s score of 71.59. The field included guards from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Junior varsity guard members include Sno Browning, Rhiley Cross, Danesha Martin, Savannah Shivers, Abigail Gann, Cara Gass, Olivia Harwood, Emma Robison, Shea Robison, Taylor Rookstool, Jorja Tuttle, Juliya Villarreal, Reagan Fletcher, Lanie Hawkins, Alec Johnson, Abby Lemert, Katie Calvert, Kerlandy Carver, Emily Coulter, and Claire Robison.

Axis is scheduled to return to competition on Saturday, March 25 at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro (TN). The SCGC championships will be held at Western Kentucky University on Saturday, April 1.
