Patriot Golf Wins Glasgow Invitational

   The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot golf team tuned up for next week’s Region 3 tournament Saturday, taking first place at the Glasgow Invitational tournament at the Glasgow Country Club. AC-S finished with a team score of 317 to take top honors.

   In individual play, senior Tate Stinson and junior Owen Stamper carded rounds of 76 to share second place. Stinson’s score marked his best 18-hole score of the season. Senior Brett Rippy also posted a season-low round of 80. Junior Bryson Bonds fired an 85 with sophomore Peyton Cline recording a 91.

   The solid 18-hole play on Saturday followed last week’s team wins over Glasgow and Franklin-Simpson at the Scottsville Country Club.

   In action Thursday against Glasgow, Stamper shot a 31 to lead the team with Bonds shooting a round of 36. Rippy carded a 39, Cline shot a 40, and Stinson posted a 42. The Patriots finished with a team score of 146.

   On Tuesday, September 11, each Patriot player fired rounds in the 30s to help the Patriots post a score of 149---to edge the Wildcats by three strokes. Stamper fired a 34, Bonds and Cline shot 38, while Stinson and Rippy posted scores of 39. The win improved AC-S’s record to 13-0 in match or tri-match events this season.

   AC-S will take to the course on Tuesday, September 25, in the Region 3 tournament. The 18-hole day-long event will be played at the Franklin Country Club in Franklin. Tee times and pairings will be announced later this week.

   Lady Patriot golfers continue to improve their scores with the Region 4 tournament also scheduled for next week. In a tri-match last Thursday against Warren East and Edmonson County, freshman Alyson Miller fired a career-best round of 42. Junior Amber Wimpee carded a 50 while senior Hannah Beltz shot a 51 on the Diamond Caverns Golf Course in Park City.

   The AC-S girls squad will have a match at home Tuesday afternoon. The girls team will tee off Monday, September 24, in the regional tournament at Hidden Hills Country Club in Tompkinsville. Tee times and pairings will be announced this week.
