Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot senior
forward Sarah Sutton is a finalist for the coveted Miss Basketball honor following
her selection as Region 4 Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of
Basketball Coaches.
Sutton enters the final week of the 2018-19 regular
season averaging 22.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game---numbers which have
helped AC-S post an 18-6 record. This season, Sutton has scored 540 points,
grabbed 261 rebounds, blocked 48 shots, and recorded 45 steals. Twice, Sutton
has scored a career-high 37 points (against Warren Central and Nelson County). On
February 7, Sutton collected a school-record 23 rebounds against Metcalfe
County. Six times, Sutton has scored 30-plus points and has recorded 12 double-doubles.
She averages over 27 minutes of action per game. Sutton is currently the state
leader in free throw percentage---having made 157 of 179 free throws for an
87.7 percentage. Sutton also ranks 12th in scoring average and 15th in
rebounding average per game---as of February 11, 2019.
For her career to date, Sutton has scored
2,157 points---second all-time in the 45-year history of Lady Patriot
basketball. Sutton has 1,116 rebounds, most all-time by a Lady Patriot. Sutton
is the only player to have 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in program history. She
holds the school record for games played (176) and games started (143). Sutton
has 31-career double-doubles. Sutton has been on the Lady Patriot varsity roster
since seventh grade---helping AC-S basketball to 132 wins since the start of the
2013-14 season.
Sutton’s career includes a starting role as
an eighth-grader on the 30-5 team that finished the 2015 season as the Houchens
Industries/KHSAA state tournament runner-up. In her high school years, Sutton averages
17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Previous honors include multiple All-District
and All-Region selections, capped this year with her selection as Player of the
Year in Region 4. Next fall, Sutton will continue her basketball career at
Murray State University.

across the state. The winner will be announced during a ceremony at the
