The high school golf season has entered the final two weeks of the regular season with the Allen County-Scottsville golf team turning their attention toward the regional tournament. Last weekend, the AC-S five-some of Owen Stamper, Bryson Bonds, Tanner McPeak, Peyton Cline, and Tyler Ford placed third in the prestigious Glasgow invitational at the Willow Oaks Country Club. Eight of the 15 participating schools will play in the Region 3 tournament on October 1 at Hidden Hills Country Club in Tompkinsville.

Stamper carded a one-under par round of 70 on the course in Glasgow to place third individually with a 70. The tournament was won by Bowling Green senior Collier Curd who fired a four-under-par round of 67. Curd’s teammate Clark McDougal was fifth while Bowling Green’s Charlie Reber tied for sixth---helping the Purples to claim the team title with a score of 289.

Bryson Bonds shot a five-over-par round of 76 to tie for tenth in the field. Tanner McPeak shot an 80, Peyton Cline had an 81, and Tyler Ford had an 86 to complete the scoring for the Patriots.

Saturday’s event marked the conclusion of designated events in which teams could play with their results counting toward inclusion in the first Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-State tournament this weekend in Lexington. As a team, AC-S did not finish in the top 15 to qualify for the championship. However, Stamper finished among the top 20 golfers not on a qualifying team, thus earning an individual invitation to the event.

Saturday’s results capped a week in which the Patriots also defeated the Falcons from Monroe County. Playing in Tompkinsville on Tuesday, Owen Stamper and Rafe Blankenship carded rounds of 35, McPeak, Cline, and Cline shot 39’s, and Bonds notched a 42, Joshua Sikes shot a 43, and Eli Stamper shot a 51. Overall, AC-S defeated Monroe County 148-162.

Lady Patriot golfers Aly Miller and Emma Cline played last Thursday in the District Golf Tournament at the Scottsville Country Club. Miller shot a 49 while Cline had a 50 on the course. The pair of Lady Patriots will be in Region 4 golf action on Monday, September 30 at Crosswinds in Bowling Green.

On Tuesday, September 17, AC-S defeated Monroe County by eight strokes in play at Tompksinville. Scores for the Patriots included a 36 for Owen Stamper, a 40 for Tyler Ford, 42’s for Tanner McPeak, Rafe Blankenship, and Joshua Sikes,  a 43 by Peyton Cline, a 46 by Bryson bonds, and a 53 by Eli Stamper.
