Track Team Opens Season

ACS track team

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School Track and Field teams started their 2019 season with last week’s Greenwood All-Comers Meet at Greenwood High School.

   For Lady Patriot runners, the results included an 11th place finish by Lily Caldwell in the 800-meter run in a time of 3:09.97. In the same event, Vanessa Ramos placed 12th after a time of 3:15.95, Hannah Cool was 14th (3:18.00) and Lydia Goosetree was 18th (3:31.89). In the 400m dash, Sally McPherson posted a time of 1:15.80 to place 15th while Rachel Moore was 18th in a time of 1:17.65. Macayla Vernon was 17th in the 200m dash (32.02) and Aleigha Ellis was 20th in the 200m dash as well. Shy Grainger ran a 15.05 in the 100m dash to place 19th and posted a time of 32.87 in the 200m dash to finish in 28th place. Shelby Snyder was 20th in the 100m hurdles (23.25). In addition, the 4x100m relay team of Vernon, McPherson, Grainger, and Moore was sixth after a time of 59.40.

   In field events, Summer Towe tossed the shot put 19’07.75 to place 20th in the field. 

   For the Patriots, the results were a fifth-place effort by Chase Ward in the 100m dash after a time of 11.92. Other AC-S runner results in the 100m dash included a ninth place run by Nick Cooper (12.06), a 16th place by Trace McIntyre (12.42) and a 29th place finish by Dillon Rookstool (13.47). Ward also was eighth in the 200m dash after a time of 25.12 while Tanner Stinson was 23rd in the event (26.48). In addition, in the 200m dash, Caden Costello was 25th in a time of 27.27 while Tim Spearman was 26th (27.40).

   In the 400m dash, Jeff Haney posted the time of 1:07.82 to place 27th, a spot ahead of Zack Emberton (1:08.11). Austin Stinson was 30th in the time of 1:09.45v followed by Kaynon Cox with a time of 1:09.95. Tad Kolton Taylor placed eighth in the 800m run (2:19.15) and was 11th in the 1600m (5:07.48). In the 800m as well, Logan Elmore posted a time of 2:34.26 to finish in 18th, Gabriel Romero had a time of 2:47.55 and Huston Wilkins recorded a time of 3:06.43. Additionally, in the 1600m, Tyler Stanger was 20th in a time of 5:34.60, Haney was 26th (5:49.88), and Davenport was 27th (6:03.96). Stanger placed seventh in the 3200m run with a time of 11:40.65.

   Patriot relay team results included a fourth place in the 4x100 in the time of 47.39. Relay participants included Jake Bow, McIntyre, Cooper, and Ward. The 4x200 team of Costello, Cox, Spearman, and Tanner Stinson was 10th (1:47.82). The 4x800m relay team of Davenport, Bow, Davi Thompson, and Taylor was fifth in the time of 9:43.06. 

   In the field events for the Patriots, Thompson earned a second-place finish in the long triple jump leaping 40’07. Ward cleared 5’6” in the high jump to finish in fifth place. In the discus, Rookstool threw 68’08” to place 24th, a place ahead of Leo Esquivel (65’). John Calvert also threw the discuss 54 feet. In the shot, Rookstool was sixth after a throw of 37’07.75” with Calvert finishing in 13th (33’08.00). Esquivel was 26th in the event (28’03.75”). 

   The AC-S track and field squad is scheduled to return to competition on April 16 in a meet at Barren County.
