September Athletes of the Month

The Allen County-Scottsville High School athletic department has announced the September Student-Athletes of the Month. Honorees include Maggie Adams (cross country), Meg Foster (volleyball), Carson Taylor (football) and Tad Taylor (cross country).

Senior Maggie Adams has run cross country for six years. Since starting in the sport, Adams’ times have consistency improved. This year, Adams anchors the AC-S girls team and has high hopes for a strong performance at the regional meet later this month.

Adams---the daughter of Dave and Louise Adams---excels in the class room. This past summer, Adams participated in the Kentucky Governors Scholars Program and was named second runner-up in the Allen County Distinguished Young Woman Program. Last spring, Adams stared in the local production of The Wizard of Oz. Her future plans are to attend the University of Kentucky and possibly major in Theatre or Biomedical Engineering. Her hobbies include reading and working out. Adams is also active in SkillsUSA and the Art Club.

Sophomore Meg Foster has played volleyball for five years and been a member of the Lady Patriot varsity team for two seasons. Last year, Foster earned All-District tournament team honors and team MVP. The setter has helped lead AC-S to a 14-4 record this season and the top seed in the upcoming District 15 volleyball tournament.

Foster is also involved in Deca, the Pep Club, and the Future Business Leaders of America. She enjoys spending time with friends, taking naps, attending church, shopping, and traveling. Her future plans are undecided but she is considering a career in early childhood education or the dental field. Foster is looking at Western Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, or Eastern Kentucky University for her higher education. She is the daughter of Cindy Foster.

Senior Carson Taylor has been a member of the Patriot football team for four years and has played football for 14 years. The two-way player---running back on offense and a defensive back on defense---has helped AC-S open the season with a 5-2 record and a top-ten ranking in Class 4-A.

Carson Taylor enjoys hunting away from school and is a member of the Future Farmers of America. The son of Richard and Penny Taylor plans on attending Lincoln Tech upon graduation next May and go into the heavy equipment field.

Freshman Tad Taylor is a four-year cross country runner for the Patriot program. The letter winner has seen his times improve, thus helping him to become the program’s leading runner this season. Last month, Taylor captured first place in a 3K event at Barren County. Taylor is also a member of the AC-S swim program and track and field team.

Tad Taylor enjoys swimming and running as hobbles. His future plans are to attend Vanderbilt University or the University of Kentucky and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Tad Taylor.
