Allen County-Scottsville junior guard Robert Robledo scored a career-high 25 points but his efforts were not enough to help the Patriots record a win. Greenwood defeated AC-S 82-47 Tuesday, January 2 at Patriot Gym.

Robledo---whose previous career high of 19 came against Russellville last season---went eight of 16 from the floor and four of four at the foul line. Of his eight shots from the floor, five were 3-pointers. From beyond the arc, Robledo was five of 10.

The Patriots battled the Gators close in the first quarter. The teams traded early leads before Greenwood went on a 12-1 run midway through the first frame to open a 16-6 lead. However, a 3-pointer by Blayne Moore and three from the hands of Robledo enabled the Patriots to close to within one, 22-21 with 1:33 remaining in the frame. The Gators scored the final four points to lead 26-21 at the first break.

After six unanswered points to start the second, Tyler Turner’s 3-pointer---one of nine total for the game for AC-S---stopped the Gators’ 10-0 run. Greenwood began to seize control of the game, outscoring the Patriots 22-7 in the final six minutes to build a 54-31 halftime lead.

Greenwood (9-4) dominated the third frame 16-4. The lone Patriot field goal was a driving lay-up by senior Jack Celsor and a pair Robledo free throws. In the fourth, Robledo was the AC-S offense for the most part. The junior scored 10 of his team’s 12 points with Chase Ross’s two free throws providing the final two points.

AC-S (2-11) was 15-38 (39.5%) from the floor, including nine of 20 from beyond the arc. At the line, AC-S was eight of 10. Greenwood---who placed three players in double-figures and saw 13 player score in the game---went 31-55 (56.4%) from the floor and 16-20 (80%) at the line. The Gators outrebounded the Patriots 31-21.

The next game for AC-S will be Friday as Glasgow (4-7) comes to Patriot Gym.
