FFA Student Elected State Officer


   Kathrine Ditmore---a 2014 graduate of Allen County-Scottsville High School---was elected as a Kentucky State Future Farmers of America (FFA) officer at the 85th annual state convention this week in Lexington.

   Ditmore was elected as the Barren River Region State Vice President and will serve for the 2014-2015 year. She is the second Allen County-Scottsville student to be chosen as a state officer. Ditmore also won the Kentucky Agriculture’s Teacher Association of Educators’ Barren River Region Scholarship and received her state FFA degree.

   Ditmore’s selection for the prestigious state officer position highlighted a week in which the local FFA chapter also had several students recognized at the state convention.

   Junior Kailey Barlow won the Soy Snapshot Award in production and cattle. She also represented the region in Prepared Public Speaking and was a state delegate for Allen County.

   Senior Coe Campbell served as a state delegate and represented the region in goat impromptu. Senior Taylor Madison and recent graduate Tim Bell served on the state courtesy corp. Recent graduate Efrain Fonseca represented the region in Specialty Crop Production Proficiency and served on state courtesy corp. Senior Tristan Gunter represented the region in Beef Production Proficiency and also served on state courtesy corp.

   Bell also received his state FFA degree along with recent graduates Danielle Cardwell, Logan Chandler, and B J Towe.

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School chapter also received their gold emblem chapter rating. The local chapter was one of 67 chapters from across the state which received gold ratings based on their outstanding accomplishments in their program of activities during the 2013-2014 school year.
