Schools Plan Conferences in Coming Days/Weeks

(by Don Meador, Allen County Schools, October 10, 2016)

Students across the Allen County School District began their second nine weeks of the school year today after their traditional week-long fall break. The return to the classrooms also marks the start of a series of specific parent-student-teachers conferences at each school in the district.

Allen County-Scottsville High School will hold parent-teacher conferences from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday, October 13. Teachers will be in their classrooms at this time to meet with parents and discuss their child’s progress at the midway point of the fall semester.

The week of Monday, October 17 through Friday, October 21, will see the Allen County Intermediate Center (ACIC) engage in school-wide student-led conferences---part of the on-going Leader In Me student leadership program. According to ACIC principal Shawn Holland, parents will also have the option for traditional conferences. Holland notes that all of the teachers at ACIC will be at the school until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 but additional times will be offered by teachers to accommodate parents. Parents can contact the school or their child’s teacher for more information.

At the James E. Bazzell Middle School, plans are underway for their annual Student Showcase and Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 20. Parents are invited to visit the school between 3 and 6 p.m. and see the various showcase projects students have been working on to start the school year. Parents can also meet and discuss their child’s progress as the school’s teachers will be in their rooms.

The Allen County Primary Center will hold parent-teacher conferences the week of October 24. School administrators will schedule conference times during the week to give parents options for visiting the school to meet with teachers. Parents are reminded to watch for more information in the coming weeks. Primary Center principal Tim Wilson also reminds parents that the school’s Fall Harvest parties will be on Thursday, October 27 for preschool students and on Friday, October 28, from 1:30 until 2:15, for the K-third grade kids.

Any parent with questions or concerns about their child’s progress can contact their child’s school at any time. Parents can also visit the Parent Portal link at www.allen.kyschools.us to check on grade information for their child.
