The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot Swim team of Houston Porter, Alex Stamps, Kash Taylor, and Ryan Wolfe will have one final meet. AC-S placed sixth Saturday in the 400y freestyle relay in a school-record time of 3:33.13 at the first round of the state meet in Bowling Green. Their time earned the opportunity to swim for a state title on February 22 at the Lancaster Aquatics Center at the University of Kentucky.
Last Saturday, the team posted their record time based on the strong individual effort of each swimmer. Porter covered the first leg of the swim in 25.51. Wolfe’s second leg resulted in a time of 26.91 with Stamps’ section notching a time of 25.91. Taylor completed the final leg in 23.75. The total time of 3:33.13 broke the previous best record time of 3:34.25.
The same Patriot swimmers posted a time of 1:37.24 in the 200y free relay.
In individual competition, Porter posted a time of 50.81 in the 100y free and a time of 1:51.17 in the 200y free. Taylor participated in two events, finishing with a time of 24.52 in the 50y free and a time of 52.95 in the 100y free. Wolfe swam in the 100y back and recorded a time of 1:07.34.
For the Lady Patriots swimmers at the state first round, Emma Brown posted a time of 1:15.65 in the 100y butterfly and a time of 1:11.16 in the 100y backstroke. Jayden Harmon notched times of 28.01 in the 500y free and 1:01.14 in the 100y free. Sarah Shain had a time of 1:22.09 in the 100y breaststroke.
Brown, Harmon, Shain, and Anne Powell swam in the 200 and 400y relays. In the 200, the team had a time of 2:13.40 and a time of 4:36.16 in the 400.
