For members of the James E. Bazzell Middle School football team, Sunday, August 2 will be a day to

remember for a lifetime. The middle school Patriots will be on the field at Nissan Stadium in downtown

Nashville for a scrimmage on the same field as the Tennessee Titans and NFL stars bang helmets.

“The NIssan Stadium Jamboree kind of fell in my lap,” explained JEBMS football coach Seth Burchett.

“The organizer of the event sent out blast emails to local schools and he sent an email to our school nurse

Ms. Helois West. She forwarded the email to me. I then vetted the source and contacted the organizer. He

has been very easy to deal with and this once in a lifetime opportunity was one that I could not pass up for

our kids.”

The Jamboree allows youth and high school football teams the experience of scrimmaging on a

professional NFL field and enjoy various activities which will enhance the day. Participants get access to

professional stadium amenities, including running out of the team tunnels and featured on the main video

boards.

Once Burchett secured Bazzell a spot, he turned his attention to finding an opponent.

“I was asked to find an opponent that we matched up well with,” Burchett explained. “I reached out to

several schools locally and Warren East Middle School accepted the invitation.”

According to Burchett, the format has the scrimmages starting at the 40-yard line and going in toward the

goal line. This way, two scrimmages will be taking place on the field at all times throughout that day.

JEBMS will have both a 7th grade scrimmage and an 8th grade scrimmage.

“I am tremendously excited for this opportunity,” Burchett said. “I think the kids are excited but I think

for them it has not completely sunk in the magnitude of this opportunity. I think once we get there it will

sink in.”

JEBMS is slated to play at 10:10 a.m. in Nashville. Tickets for the event can be purchased
