Allen County-Scottsville High School (AC-SHS) will open their doors on the evening of Thursday, November 20 to showcase the exciting and engaging activities students are working on in classrooms every day.
“PatCon is Allen County-Scottsville High School’s signature event designed to celebrate student learning, creativity, and innovation.” explained AC-SHS principal Shane Humphrey. “The event brings together students, teachers, and community partners for an evening focused on showcasing the amazing work happening in classrooms.”
The agenda for the evening involves student presentations related to their ongoing Project Based Learning (PBL) activities.
“During PatCon, students present PBLs, performances, and demonstrations that reflect real-world problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking—skills developed through project-based learning and hands-on experiences,” Humphrey added “The theme---Create, Innovate, and Collaborate---captures the spirit of the evening, as students proudly share their ideas and achievements with peers, staff, and visitors.”
Not only does PatCon highlight student achievements but also reflects the connection between the high school and the Scottsville-Allen County community.
“PatCon also celebrates school pride and strengthens community connections, showcasing how Allen County-Scottsville High School empowers students to become innovative thinkers and future-ready leaders.” Humphrey noted.
PatCon starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until 7 on Thursday, November 20. Parents and guardians as well as community leaders and citizens are encouraged to visit the school and see first hand the hard work of the students.

The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot basketball team will host the Westmoreland Lady Eagles Thursday afternoon (November 13) at 5:30 in the team's first scrimmage of the season. Tip time is 5:30 at Patriot Gym.
Today's Veterans Day program at the high school included a special Veterans Service Award given by the high school JROTC. The year, the special award of recognition was presented to US Army Veteran James "Boss" Weaver. As a young adult, Weaver served in both the European Theatre and the Pacific Theatre in the final days of World War II and in the years following . Returning home, Weaver's service to his community included over 30 years with the Allen County Road Department. This past summer, Weaver turned 99 years young.

The Allen County-Scottsville High School Athletic Department received an $8,000 donation last week from J.M. Smucker. According to AC-SH principal Shane Humphrey, the donation will be a general purpose donation for the athletic department. Thank You J.M. Smucker. AC-SH seniors had the opportunity today to apply for colleges at the annual College Application Day at the high school. Representatives from several Kentucky colleges and universities joined AC-S guidance counselors to help students complete on-line registrations and applications at the college/university of their choice. Universities and colleges in attendance included Western Kentucky University, Lindsey Wilson University, Campbellsville University, Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, and SKYCTC (Southern Kentucky Community and Technical College).
Today, the Patriot soccer team hosts Glasgow while the girls soccer team travels to Glasgow. Boys golf goes to the Caveland Golf Course for a match with Hart County. Girls golf is in action at Hidden Hills in Tompkinsville with Monroe County. The volleyball team has a triple header at Metcalfe County.
Approximately 210 seniors started their last year of school today with a parade. The seniors decorated their vehicles and received a police escourt from Jacks Shopping Center in town to the high school---continuing a longstanding tradition for the first day of school. After their arrival, teachers, staff, and underclassmen welcomed the seniors into the gym.
Barton Rutledge Wins Greenwood Invitational
Allen County-Scottsville senior Barton Rutledge made six birdies in a three-under round of 69 to capture first place in the Greenwood Invitational Monday (August 4) at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Rutledge---a Western Kentucky University commit---birdied the par-5 second hole, the par-4 six hole, and the par-4 eighth hole to post a 33 on the first nine holes. On the back nine, three boogies threatened Rutledge’s chances for the win. However, a birdie on the par-five 14th hole and back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes gave the Patriot senior a one stroke victory over freshman Miller Osbourne from Bethlehem.
The result was Rutledge’s first victory of the season after a series of solid finishes in tournaments in recent weeks in Franklin, Campbellsville, Bowling Green, and Glasgow. Rutledge’s win came at the BGCC course where he tied for second last fall in the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac Kentucky High School Athletic Association state golf championship.
Senior teammate Owen Talbott posted a nine-over-par round of 81 to tie for 43rd in the 116-player field. Talbott shot a 38 on the front nine prior to dropping to a 43 on the last nine holes. AC-S freshman Lane Temple carded an 87, eighth-grader Simon Stamper finished with an 88, and junior Kaden Stinson closed with an 89.
The Patriots host Warren East Thursday afternoon around 4:30 at the Scottsville Country Club in their first head-to-head match of the season. Saturday, the golfers return to tournament play at the Shady Hollow Golf Course.
