Swim Participates in Two Meets

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School swim team was in the water for competition twice in the last week. Saturday, the team participated in the Warren County Holiday Invite at the Warren County Aquatics Center. Last Thursday, the swimmers competed at Monroe County.

   Results from the Warren County meet show that the Lady Patriots’ 200-yard medley team placed 12th in a time of 2:37.93. Swimmers Katherine Foster, Hayden Petty, Sarah Hartman, and Rachel Foster were 2.88 seconds slower than their entry time in the event. The same swimmers were 14th in the 200y free with a time of 2:15.72. In the 400y freestyle relay, the Lady Patriots were 13th in the time of 5:07.15.

   For the Lady Patriots individually, Hartman placed 11th in the 200y Individual Medley (IM). Hartman’s time of 2:43.41 was just over five seconds faster than her previous best time of 2:48.61. Rachel Foster was 13th in the 50y girls freestyle with a time of 29.31. Hayden Petty participated in the 100y freestyle and posted a time of 1:21.01. Katherine Foster posted a time of 1:43.12 in the 100y backstroke.

   In Patriot individual competition, Tad Taylor shaved just over nine seconds off his previous best time in the 200y freestyle. Taylor recorded a time of 2:09.09 to place 11th in a field of 23 swimmers. Wade Weisbrodt placed 19th in the 50y freestyle. Weisbrodt posted a time of 28:03. Brian Coffey also participated in the event and had a time of 32.29. Jacob Green recorded a time of 32.29, a personal-best time. Zach Ansley posted a time of 36.46, a personal best.

   Lake Doss finished 15th in the 100y butterfly in a time of 1:29.27. His time was 1.66 slower than his previous best. Nate Harper was 20th fastest in the 100y free in a time of 1:07.18. Coffey was 24th with a time of 1:11.54, Green posted a time of 1:15.69. In the boys 100y backstroke, Harper was 15 in a time of 1:24.68. Bomar was 18th in the 100y breaststroke (1:27.53), shaving over two seconds from his best time. Doss had a time of 1:33.69 and Ainsley posted a time of 1:48.35 in the event.

   The Patriot 200y free relay team of Weisbrodt, Harper, Taylor, and Chance Hill placed 12th with a time 1:54.46. In the same event, the relay team of John Bomar, Ansley, Green, and Doss had a time of 2:12.83. In the 400y free relay, the AC-S team of Weisbrodt, Harper, Taylor and Hill posted a time of 4:16.86 while the team of Coffey, Green, Bomar, and Doss had a time of 4:56.57.

   Overall, Patriot swimmers were second among small schools in the meet and seventh overall. The Lady Patriot swimmers were eighth overall.

   The Lady Patriots and Patriots swimmers also took part at the Monroe County Falcon Invitational last Thursday in Tompkinsville. Ainsley posted a time of 36.42 and placed ninth in the 50y free and was fourth in the 100y breast in the time of 1:54.33. Bomar was second in both the 100y free (1:08.90) and the 100y breast (1:30.64). Coffey placed fourth in the 50y free in the time of 32.24. Doss was second in the 100y fly (1:30.55). Green placed sixth in the 50y free and fourth in the 100y free (1:14.28).

   Additional individual results included Harper with a first place finish in the 100y free in the time of 1:08.48. Harper was also second in the 100y backstroke in the time of 1:31.88. Hill placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:31.96 and was first in the 100y backstroke in the time of 1:09.88. Taylor was first in the 200y free with a time of 2:16.74.

   Katherine Foster was tenth in the 50y free in the time of 40.92. She also placed third in the 100y back in the time of 1:48.10. Rachel Foster was third in the 50y free (29.99) and third in the 100y breast (1:36.41). Hartman had a time of 2:51.67 to place second in the 200 IM. Hartman was first in the 100y backstroke with a time of 1:20.27. Petty was third in the 100y free in a time of 1:22.45 and fifth in the 100y breast (1:49.11).

   Relay results had the Patriot 200y medley team of Harper, Bomar, Hill, and Taylor placing second in the event with a time of 2:12.15. The relay team of Hill, Harper, Coffee, and Taylor scored a second place finish in the 200y freestyle with a 1:58.51 time. The 200y free relay team of Green, Ainsley, Bomar, and Doss was third (2:16.24). The 400y relay team of Coffey, Doss, Green, and Taylor placed first in the event in the time of 4:58.63.

   Relay results for the Lady Patriot swimmers of Rachael Foster, Katherine Foster, Hayden Petty, and Sarah Hartman finishing second in the 200y freestyle in the time of 2:24.90 and second in the 200y medley (2:40.80).
