STLP Participates in State Comeptition

The Allen County Intermediate Center (ACIC) was represented by 24 students last week at the annual STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) state conference at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

“Our STLP students took part in multiple competitions at the state STLP conference,” explained Intermediate Center STLP sponsor Carole Chaney. “Students recognized for service categories were Aidan Davis and Aaron Shain for their assistance as SCRATCH Ambassadors during the daylong event.”

In addition to the recognitions, the Podcasting team of Mattie Brown, Carlie Bray, Macy Croft and Riley Swygart received a first place award for a project entitled "Telling ACIC's Story." ACIC student Dillon Ausbrooks also placed second in the Racing to the Future category. The winners received a trophy with Ausbrooks also earning a new race car track set.

Chaney praised her students for the hard work to prepare for the state STLP competition---a competition last week that included a surprise visit from Allen County School District superintendent Randall Jackson.

“Although, we are an upper elementary school, ACIC's STLP students compete with the older students from other middle schools,” Chaney added. “I am very proud of this team of students.”

The day-long competition involved STLP students from across the Commonwealth---students that placed in regional STLP competitions earlier in the school year.
