The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot volleyball team defeated Glasgow, Somerset, Daviess County, and Franklin-Simpson in the past week. However, sandwiched between the wins, were losses to Graves County, Taylor County, and Ballard Memorial during tournament play.

The Lady Patriots opened the week’s action with a 2-0 (25-18, 25-18) victory at Glasgow on Tuesday, September 10. A trio of four kills from Maddie Stallings, Breann Varner, and Ana Walker helped propel the Lady Patriots to the straight set win.    Friday, AC-S journeyed to Campbellsville to play in the Taylor County Smack down. In pool play action, the Lady Patriots dropped a 2-1 (25-22, 19-25, 15-13) set to Graves County. The highlight of the three-set match was the 26 assists put forth off the hands Foster. Her timely setting led to eight kills from Chloe Cook and C.J. Towe. Brown led the way defensively as she registered 14 digs. Averie Pitchford had 12 digs with Cook finishing with 10 digs.

Taylor County (15-4) handed AC-S a 2-0 defeat in Friday night action as well. The Lady cardinals took the first set 25-11 and prevailed 25-9 in the second. Foster had 10 assists in a match in which the Lady Patriots struggled to find their game.

Foster reached double-digit assists (15). At the net, Walker had six kills and Varner added five kill shots to help AC-S to the win.

The final win in the busy week was a 2-0 (25-22, 25-20) victory over Franklin-Simpson on Monday. The Lady Patriots captured both sets despite a struggle to put the first set away.

Strong setting from Foster led to several big kills by Towe and Stallings in the first set. AC-S sprinted to a 7-3 lead. Franklin-Simpson rallied and closed to within three, 14-11, but a pair of strong kill shots from Towe enabled the hosts to stretch their lead. A Varner kill followed a Stalling’s kills four point later lifted AC-S to a 20-13 lead. Following a kill from Cook, the Lady Patriots led 24-18. Despite four unanswered points by the Lady cats, AC-S took the first set 25-22.
