(by Don Meador, October 19, 2021)

The Allen County-Scottsville FFA (Future Farmers of America) trap shooting team placed third last week at the Regional FFA Shoot at the Cedar Ridge Trap Range in Cave City.

“We finished third out of 11 teams” noted FFA advisor Brandon Weaver. “ Metcalfe was first with  a 221 out of 250 birds, South Warren was second with a 213/250, and we shot a 211/250. Dalton Coffey shot a 49/50 and was in a three-way tie for the regional high individual and had to have a shoot off.  He ended up shooting a 23/25 and he placed third overall in the Region.”

This year’s trap team includes three freshmen, a sophomore, and a senior with two sophomore alternates. Team members are Waymon Dye, Dalton Coffey, Travis McGee, Jordan Robinson, Cole Jackson, Parker Thompson, and Tucker Ford.

Weaver adds that the team only recently began practicing for their season which will include another shoot in early November.

“We started shooting about 3-4 weeks ago one night a week at Barren River Rod and Gun Club,” Weaver added. “We have a State Shoot in Ohio County on November 6.”
