Lady Patriot Volleyball Improves to 4-0 in District

The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot volleyball teams downed Barren County 2-0 (25-22, 25-15) Monday to improve to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in District 15 action

Barren County broke a 4-4 tie early in the first set with a 9-0 run to build a 13-4 lead. The Lady Patriots answered with renewed energy and began to cut into the Trojanettes’ lead. Winners from Meg Foster, Macy Ward, and kills by Kalee Baldwin and Chloe Cook brought the Lady Patriots to within one 17-16. Barren County pushed their lead back to four, 20-16. A pair of unforced Barren errors and a winner by Foster enabled AC-S to pull even at 21. The squad exchanged points before AC-S scored the final three points of the first set---capping a 21-9 rally.

Three ties and two lead changes highlighted the first 17 points of the second set. AC-S edged ahead to stay after a solid winner by Breann Varner and a ace from Chloe Cook. Aces by Ward, and Olivia Brown as well as winners from Baldwin and Ward enabled the Lady Patriots to close the set on a 17-7 run and post the match win.

The victory over Barren County (2-14) leaves AC-S undefeated in District 15 action. The Lady Patriots have district matches with Monroe County and Glasgow remaining as part of the district schedule.

The win also returned AC-S to the win column following last Thursday’s defeat at Edmonson County. The Lady Cats (13-4) took the first set 25-21 and won the second 25-13 to hand AC-S their third defeat of the season.

AC-S (8-3) travels to Greenwood (13-1) Tuesday, hosts Westmoreland Thursday, and entertains Franklin-Simpson (8-8) on Monday, September 18.
