The Allen County Board of Education once again amended the school calendar during their regular board meeting Monday night. The action became necessary after the school district missed four additional snow days March 3-6.
Under the new calendar, the last day for students will be Thursday, June 5. Seniors at Allen County-Scottsville High School will graduate on Friday, June 6.
The Board decided to leave spring break as scheduled on the district's original calendar. Students will be of school from Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 for spring break. Students will also be out of school on Tuesday, May 20 (Election Day) and on Monday May 26 for Memorial Day. However, students will attend school on Friday, April 18, a day originally slated as a no-school day.
School officials will continue to watch legislation being consider in the General Assembly which might allow the school district to further amend the calender. According to Garry DeWitt, Director of Pupil Personnel, proposed legislation by the General Assembly does not affect Allen County at this time. However, any adjustments to legislation in Frankfort pertaining to the school calendar will be monitored and presented to Board members in April for their consideration.
