The Future Farmers of America Chapter at Allen County-Scottsville High School recognized their chapter president at their monthly meeting on Friday, December 13. FFA advisor Brandon Weaver presented Ty Jones with a special pin as FFA members looked on.

“Last March, Ty completed in the Sheep Production Proficiency category with his Sheep Supervised Agricultural Experience Program,” Weaver explained to FFA Club members. “Ty earned first place at the local, regional and state levels.”

Jones’ success in Kentucky led to an opportunity in national competition.

“The proficiency was submitted to Nationals in June,” Weaver continued. “Of the 22 sheep professionals submitted, six were rated Gold---the highest rating given by the National FFA. Although Ty did not make the top three finalists, he was recognized by the National FFA for his accomplishments and was awarded a Gold FFA Emblem pin. The Gold pin can only be earned through the National FFA organization.”

The pin was placed on Jones’ FFA jacket. The traditional bluejackets contain additional pins for recognition at multiple levels within the FFA organization.
