The 2025 Allen County-Scottsville High School spring musical is coming together. For months, students have been preparing for the production of “Little Shop of Horrors” March 21 and 22 at the high school auditorium.

“The musical is a sci-fi comedy telling the story of a man-eating plant,” explained choir educator and musical director Marisa Horner. “When a plant shop worker, Seymour, introduces a strange type of fly trap to the shop owner, Muchnik, they soon realize the plant has an interesting way of growing. Seymour tries to grow both in wealth and status while trying to win the affections of his coworker Audrey.”

The musical’s cast includes 25 students this year---21 performers from the high school and four from James E. Bazzell Middle School. Auditions for roles were held in December. Since January, the students have been working afterschool to memorize lines, learn songs, and practice routines. Preparation has also included Saturday activities with cast members and parents also helping with the construction of props for the production.

This year’s show continues a spring tradition. For several years, choir and drama educators have worked together to present a spring musical. The project is designed to showcase the talents of students interested in various aspects of performing arts. Parents/guardians and the community are invited to attend to watch the cast present the three shows, capping months of hard work.

Opening night for “Little Shop of Horrors” will be Friday, March 21 with curtains opening at 6:30. On Saturday, March 22, a 2:00 p.m. performance and a 6:30 p.m. show are scheduled. General admission is $10 cash at the door for each presentation
