Allen County-Scottsville seniors---dressed in their best prom attire---were introduced to a gym filled with family, classmates, and friends at the annual Class Night. The one-of-a-kind program is a time-honored tradition in Allen County---a tradition organizers say dates back almost a century.
After the presentation of colors by the AC-SH JROTC color guard, senior Raelynn Donovon sang the Star-Spangled Banner. Afterwhich, senior introductions began with Mr. and Miss Allen County-Scottsville High School---Tyler Turner and Clair Clay----leading the way. Mr. and Miss Senior Ace Moore and Georgianna Tabor followed.
The remaining superlatives---students selected by their senior peers---followed. The list included Best All-Around-Barton Rutledge and Briley Parker, Most Likely to Succeed-Victor Palacios and Kennedy Carter, Most Sophisticated-Jonah Hamby and Allison Ford, Most Dependable-Ayden Johnston and Adleigh Edwards, Best Mannered-Trey Helmes and Ella Anderson, Most Gifted-James Fisher and Olivia Baird, and Most Athletic-De’Ante Grainger and Addy Law.
Additional superlatives were Classiest-Owen Talbott and Raelyn Donovan, Moist Patriotic-Keaton Taylor and Mckenna Talbott, Class Clowns-Alex Taylor and Kyra Marr, Most Carefree-Kyler Pedigo and Bylee Gens, Most Lovable-D.J. Frields and Lauren Tabbert, Most Argumentative-Cameron Ballard and Payton Marr, Most Mischievous-Kaleb Jessie and Kaytee Shelton, Shyest-Caden Meador and Vanessa Hall, Most Energetic-Rico Gass and Alex Hudson, Most Unique-Edy Chavez and Ali Fox and Most Unpredictable-Braxton Nichols and Arien Knight.
Following the walkout and introductions of the remaining seniors, the program paused to remember two classmates who have passed since the Class of 2026 started their journey toward graduation. Empty seats with flowers were placed in memory of Gabbi Doolin and Skyler Graves.
Class Night also included the presentation of three prestigious school awards---as selected by the faculty. The Outstanding Senior Award was presented to Kennedy Carter. The Citizenship Award was given to Adleigh Edwards. James Fisher received rhe Service to School and Community Award. .
The two-hour plus program also included remarks from class president Raelynn Donovan, vice-president Jonathan Gregory, and class secretary Alisha Burgess. Class Parliamentarian Adleigh Edwards, class reporter Sara Minix, and class historian shared school memories from their journey through their 13 years.
The evening also included special musical selections. Ali Fox sang, “Scars to Your Beautiful.” Baylee Gens provided the vocals on the song “Thank You, Jesus, for the Blood.” She was joined in the song by Jonah Hamby on the piano, Ace Moore on the Guitar, and Foster Berry on the drums. AC-SHS staff member Katelyn Taylor was selected by the class as a special guest speaker. Senior class sponsor Maegan Renick introduced the class and shared some thoughts.
Following Class Night, the junior-senior prom was held. After the prom, Up All Night took place at the high school for seniors who chose to attend. The event is organized by senior parents to provide a safe environment for seniors after prom as well as providing six hours of fun time with one another. This year, UAN raised approximately $45,000 in cash and donations for prizes given away to UAN participants throughout the night.
Graduation for the Class of 2026 will be on Friday, May 15, in Patriot Gym.
