Lady Patriots Basketball welcomes back Coach Garry Dewitt!

Four Allen County-Scottsville High School seniors received prestigious awards during Class Night ceremonies on Saturday, April 26.
Houston Porter was selected for the Outstanding Senior Award. Emma Brown was presented with the Citizenship Award. Brenna Eaton and Dominic Vander Stroom received the Service to School and Community Award.
The Outstanding Senior Award is given to the senior who “has excelled academically, is socially accepted, shows leadership skills, is a good citizen, and is involved in school activities.” The AC-SH faculty selected Porter for the honor.
The Citizenship Award is presented to a senior who “must exhibit qualities of a good citizen---respect; honesty; integrity; and, concern for others. The student may be a leader or a follower, but must always be willing to accept their share of responsibility in any club or activity. The faculty based on her outstanding citizenship qualities selected Brown.
The Service to School and Community Award is based on the belief that “service to mankind is the very best work of life.” To be considered, a senior must be involved in both activities at school and participate in community activities that are not associated with the school. This year, a tie in voting by the faculty led to Eaton and Vander Stroom both receiving the award.

Allen County-Scottsville High School AP Environmental Science students went underground to learn on a recent field trip. Seventeen students spent a day spelunking in Hidden River Cave. The students learned about the local Karst geology, by observing the unique biodiversity of cave ecosystems, and collecting water samples for testing.

Allen County-Scottsville volleyball coach Cameron Cook has been selected as a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association 2025 Thirty Under 30 Awards. The Thirty Under 30 program recognizes up-and-coming coaches in different sectors of the sport who serve in a range of roles, from head coach to volunteer assistant to club director. Brooklynn Melton, sophomore, travelled with ACSHS’s Educators Rising chapter to the Kentucky State EdRising Conference in March 2025. While there, she beautifully delivered a speech about the defining moment in her life when she knew she wanted to become an educator–when she taught her first lesson. She represented Allen County Schools outstandingly and highlighted some of the innovative instructional work we are doing. Brooklynn’s moving speech delivery led her to place third in Kentucky and qualify to compete at the national level. We are so proud of her and all of her hard work!

Months of work by students on a Project Based Learning project at the Allen County Career and Technical Center was capped off on April 22. Mrs. Kelsey Petty's Marketing students planned and promoted an Adam Calvert concert for the entire Allen County-Scottsville High School student body. The high-energy concert also allowed a few ACSH students to take part in the event. (photos by Don Meador)

Allen County-Scottsville High School juniors Tyler Shaw and Tucker Stinson have been accepted for the 2025 Kentucky Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE). The three-week residential program brings together students from across the Commonwealth who aspire to enter the business/entrepreneur field following high school and college education.
The program’s website notes, “We bring teens from across the state into a three-week residential program, immerse them in a creative space and arm them with the tools needed to unleash their entrepreneurial spirits for the betterment of Kentucky.” GSE began in 2013 and gives participants an “authentic glimpse into entrepreneurship and continues to develop them along their entrepreneurial journey.”
GSE officials note that students are selected based on their work ethic, growth mindset, skills and talents, wiliness to take risks, their openness and flexibility and openness to new ideas.
Shaw and Stinson are among approximately 200 high school students selected from high schools across the state. The program will be held at the University of Kentucky from late June through mid-July.

Thank you to our Administrative Professionals who keep everything running smoothly, day in and day out!
