Allied Health and Pre-Nursing students attended the Future Healthcare Heroes Camp at SKYCTC. The purpose of the camp is to allow high school students to experience firsthand what a career in an Allied Health or Nursing program involves. Programs featured included Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Paramedic, and Fire Science Technology . Students got to experience hands-on activities within each program. They also were able to learn information about the requirements to apply to each of these programs. This information included the pre-requisite courses for each program and how students can obtain those pre-requisites while still in high school. Thank you to SKYCTC for hosting such an amazing event as always!

Students interested in pursuing the electrical field as a career had a Field Day at M&L Electrical put on by Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky.
The students got to hear about careers within M&L and talk to their employees and supervisors. The students also got to see the gear needed to work, programs/software used, listen to a safety presentation, and go through mock interviews. Lastly, the students had friendly competitions set up by the M&L employees to show the students types of work they might have to do on the job.

Have a great and safe Spring Break, Allen County Schools!
We're looking forward to finishing the year strong!

Last week, our Teaching and Learning Pathway students visited ACPC and ACIC to participate in our new semi-annual Patriots Read Program! Students in all Teacher Education classes read to classrooms from Kindergarten to 6th grade! Each of our high school students loved the experience, and the elementary students also seemed to enjoy themselves!

The Allen County-Scottsville High School entered the Cheer Derby Nationals competition in Louisville this past weekend. The AC-S cheerleaders won their division-Large Varsity Game Day, so they received a National Champions banner.
In addition, the team came in fifth overall out of all school teams.---both game day and 2.5 minute---despite a stunt a stunt fall. According to coach Diane Towe, the team's performance of the routine was the best up to date. "They rocked the rest of it and still came out with a decent score. Obviously, there's room for improvement, but it was a good win."
