Title:  Bot: When the Circuit Breaks

Reflection and Process:

I got my inspiration to make this model from the original character made by Scott Cawthon.  My version of the original character is broken down, ready to be scrapped, but still seeking resolution. I was going to use the model to do an animation, but when I learned that I could submit it as a Digital Art project, I decided to use the model for a scene and submit it.

Process

  • First, I made the head from a cube.  I Extruded the original shape to make it the head and abbed the subdivision surface modifier to give it a more “real” look to it.

  • I then made the shoulders, neck, and chest from cylinders and spheres.  I also gave these parts the subdivision surface modifier.

  • Next, I made the arms and hand, using cylinders and spheres. I gave these parts the subdivision surface and solidify modifiers, to give them more depth.

  • Then, I made the legs from cylinders, adding the subdivision surface modifier and randomizing the vertices at their bottoms to give them a twisted metal look.

  • Next, I made the eyes, mouth, teeth, and eye lid. While making the eye, I used these images, https://www.deviantart.com and https://www.deviantart.com.  I modified the red eye to hive it less of a shiny appearance.

  • After the model was created, I then added armature, allowing me to pose it and move it around more freely.

  • After the model was done, I then made the scene, making a brick wall, a night sky, and a ground.

  • I then added lights to the scene to make it look like there was more than there really is.

  • I also added lights to make the red eye glow, giving it a red and white light.

There is a lot more to blender than what I have listed off, for example, I use shade smooth and ripcuts through-out the process of making this.  While this did take a long time to make, it was a good learning experience and I will be using the skill I have acquired to make more in the future.
